USS is designed to meet the storage performance and ROI challenges faced by data center cluster environments, including high-performance computing environments. It is a middle-ware that is best-of-breed in the market, and provides an easy integration path for VARs and OEMs, and ease of use for end users. ================================================================================ CONTENTS ================================================================================ - 1. Requirements - 2. Supported Cards - 3. How to Use - 4. Support Documentation - 5. Customer Support 1. Requirements ================================================================================ The system used for this product must meet the following minimum system requirements: Processor : 1 dual core processor, AMD Opteron / Intel EM64T Xeon Memory : 4GB RAM or more recommended Ethernet NIC : Chelsio T4/T3 adapter. Storage : Any of FC, SAS, SATA, SSD, RAID OS Drive : 4GB disk CD Drive : Only for the installation of USS NOTE: The OS drive can be a SATA-DOM, Software RAID, USB flash drive, IDE, SATA, or SAS drive. The recommended size of the drive is 4GB or more. 2. Supported Cards ================================================================================ 2.1. Chelsio T4 Adapters -------------------------- - T420-CR - T440-CR - T422-CR - T420-SO-CR - T440-LP-CR 2.2. Chelsio T3 Adapters -------------------------- - S302E - S302E-C - S310E-CR - S310E-CR-C - S310E-CXA - S310E-SR+ - S310E-SR - S310E-BT - S320E-CR - S320E-LP-CR - S320E-CXA - S320-SR-XFP 3. How to Use ================================================================================ 3.1. Installation ---------------------------------------- Please refer to the USS Quick Start Guide for step-by-step instructions regarding installation and basic configuration of USS. 3.2. Advanced performance tuning steps ---------------------------------------- a. On USS console, login as root with correct password. b. After login, type "exit" from Chelsio command prompt. c. On the bash shell prompt, execute /sbin/t4_perftune.sh to set CPU affinity for Chelsio T4 MSI-X interrupts, to distribute load on all CPUs. d. Execute /sbin/chiscsi_set_affinity.sh to set CPU affinity for iscsi target driver worker threads, to distribute load on all CPUs. e. To execute the above scripts on startup, copy the scripts to /etc/tuning. Then rename them to S01chiscsi_set_affinity.sh and S02t4_perftune.sh respectively. f. If additional tuning scripts have been identified to be run at boot time, for example a script to adjust interrupt affinity for installed RAID controllers, the script name has to be prefixed with S E.g. S03myscript.sh and can be added to /etc/tuning directory. The prefix integers dictate the order in which the scripts are executed. 3.3. Windows and Linux Client settings ---------------------------------------- When a large number of cluster services (e.g. pool, software RAID) are running, the time taken to fail-over or fail-back can exceed the default client setting of 60 seconds causing I/O time-outs. This issue can be resolved by increasing the disk I/O time-out value and maximum request hold time on the client side. Please refer "Troubleshooting" section in USS user guide for details. 3.4. MS Hotfix for Windows Vista/Windows server 2008 clients ------------------------------------------------------------ Please apply the following hotfix on the Windows Vista/2008 R2 clients if used with USS cluster. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2582281 4.Support Documentation ================================================================================ The documentation for this release can be found along with the software CD or ISO image.
